For the past 2 weeks, my classes have been doing a real-life "text-dependent-analysis" as they have been studying Titanic's Final Mystery, a documentary about the tragedy. They have examined the evidence, analyzed their findings, and determined that the actual cause of the Titanic's sinking in 1912 was a cold-water mirage that made the iceberg virtually invisible to the naked eye. Each student was also given an RMS Titanic ticket with a real passenger's name and information. At the end of the unit, they got to find out if their passenger lived or perished. This is a cross-curricular study that the kids have really enjoyed!
