Highland hosted an assembly to honor our local veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 13.  Members of the Air National Guard brought safety equipment for the students to try on. JROTC cadets and the color guard, accompanied by Sgt. Major Short from the High School, also visited.  Students at all grade levels spoke during the assembly. Our student speakers were:

From Ms. Meder’s kindergarten room   -  Laron Bacon
From Mrs. Fox’s Kindergarten room – Mikah Tyson
From Ms. Smith’s kindergarten room – Aiden Adams
From Mrs. Quinn’s 1stgrade room – Skylan Taylor
From Mrs. Burns 1stgrade room – Elena Palmer
From Mr. Barnes’ 2ndgrade room – Dominic Pringle
From Mrs. Druga’s 2ndgrade room – Alena Strong
From Mrs. Frost’s 3rdgrade room – Molly-Anna Cephas and Francis’s 3rdgrade room – Julie Kraus

"Taps" was played by a music student from the High School. Students and staff created a replica of the U.S. flag using post-it notes. Each note contained a thought from a student or staff member about what veterans mean to them. The flag was on display during the assembly.
