On February 21, fifth grade students at State Street Elementary enjoyed a free field trip to Inventionland in Pittsburgh.  Inventionland is a 60,000 square foot immersive work environment.   The facility inspires creativity, promotes innovation and fosters education.  Students were able to tour uniquely-themed sets, where specialized designers, artists, illustrators, videographers, strategists, seamstresses and fabricators work.  The themed sets include a shipwrecked pirate ship, faux cave, treehouse, pet shack, giant shoe, cupcake kitchen and giant robot.

The field trip was free for students thanks to a grant from Target Field Trips and Scholarship America.  This field trip grant was awarded to STEAM teacher Mrs. Darroch. The grant was in the amount of $700 and will also be used to purchase invention kits for our 5thgrade STEAM students.
