Ambridge Area Middle School students crafted entries for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's 2020 Calendar Contest. This year's calendar features the Spotted Laternfly.
The purpose of the contest is to educate students and their families about the importance of inspecting items prior to leaving a quarantine area. Students are required to learn details about the spotted lanternfly here, and then craft artwork that includes at least one fact about the invasive insect. Complete guidelines for submission can be found here.
Entries will be judged in four divisions: first and second grade, third and fourth grade, fifth and sixth grade, and seventh and eighth grade. First, second and third place winners will be named in each division, with a grand prize winner selected from the first place division winners. Each division winner will have their artowrk appear on a page in the 2020 Spotted Lanternfly Awareness Calendar.
Winners will be notified December 16-20, 2019 and announced at the 2020 Pennsylvania Farm Show.
