On April 12th MCJROTC had two guest speakers discussing the importance of American Citizenship. Mr. Les Szell, an immigrant and political refugee from Hungary, came to USA in 1957, at age 11, when his family escaped the communist Russian regime. He talked about freedom, opportunity and hope for the future by living in the United States. Mrs. Floriana Jones immigrated from Italy when she got married in 1977. Her mother was hidden in a wall when the German Soldiers went house to house looking for young girls when Nazi Germany invaded her country during WW II. She said to always stand up for your country and your freedom and that she owes the United States for a wonderful life! She quoted, “my freedom was bought by the blood of the American Armed Forces who liberated Europe.”
