This year the Ambridge Area Junior High principal Mr. Shaun Cooke appointed a group of six staff members to form a committee dedicated to forming a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.  Ambridge Area School District has never in the past had the society at this level.  The goal of starting this society with seventh and eighth graders is to not only recognize students dedicated to citizenship, service, leadership, scholarship, and character, but also provide students with a bridge that will guide them into future successes with the National Honor Society at the high school level.

This past Thursday, May 12th marked the first annual National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony.  Twenty-six students were inducted at this time; notable speakers included Mr. Joseph Dimperio, Mr. Shaun Cooke, Mrs. Gen Scaletta, Ms. Brenna Wandel, Mrs. Chris Ceratti, and Captain Rudy Mistovich.

In addition to being inducted, reciting the NJHS pledge, and receiving their pins and certificates, the students also learned who among them had been elected as the society officers.  Officer positions were determined by inductee votes.  Congratulations go out to the following students:

Dinah Bailey, President
Elisabetta Pucci, Vice President
Kyla Fitzgibbons, Secretary
Samantha Farah, Treasurer

Congratulations also go out to all of the new inductees!
