Dear Friends and Families of Ambridge Area Middle School,
My name is Thomas McKelvey, and I am the principal at the Ambridge Area Middle School. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to unveil our new Middle School and work with you and your children to make Ambridge Area Middle School a safe, productive learning community and your school of choice. We have many wonderful plans here at the Middle School for the upcoming school year, and the staff and I are grateful to be able to share in these experiences with you and your child(ren).
I am excited to announce that Mrs. Michelle Keczmer will be our dean of students. Along with our staff, Mrs. Keczmer and I will strive to preserve the rich culture of the Ambridge Area School District community while promoting a tradition of success through building strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and community partners. We will focus on core curriculum, exploratory coursework to provide our students with opportunities to learn and grow, developing a collaborative Parent Teacher Group (PTG) and a thriving Student Council, creating a School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports system, increasing student achievement, and providing many exciting and challenging opportunities for all of our students.
Our number one concern is and always will be the safety and well-being of each and every one of our students. Below are the details of our arrival and dismissal times and procedures.
- 7:15-7:25 a.m. – Student arrival - Homeroom begins at 7:25 a.m. Students must go to their locker prior to homeroom. Any students eating breakfast will obtain and eat their breakfast in the cafeteria. Anyone dropping students off at school must enter the school on Stange Road and proceed to the side of the building near First Street for drop off. There is no supervision for students prior to 7:15 a.m.
- 2:21 p.m. – Buses are dismissed. Walkers and car riders are dismissed immediately following bus dismissal. All walkers and car riders will be dismissed from the front of the building.
During the course of the school year, it is my hope that we will work together to provide the students of Ambridge Area Middle School the skills and experiences necessary to become world-class citizens ready to master the challenges for the 21st Century.
As your child’s principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call, email, or schedule an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this an academically stimulating and fulfilling school year for your child. On behalf of the entire Ambridge Area Middle School team, welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! Yours in Education,
Thomas J. McKelvey
