Greetings Parents and Families of Ambridge Area Junior High School (AAJHS),
I hope everyone has had a fantastic summer! It is hard to believe that we are back in school again. The time really does fly by! As our student come back to the Junior High they will notice some positive changes to their schedule and how their day will look. We have adjusted the bell schedule in order to increase instructional time. This may be confusing for the students at first and we expect some growing pains throughout the process. This will take time for all of us to get accustom to the new schedule. We have added a thirty minute daily activity period to the end of the school day where students will be able to participate in clubs and activities as well as additional time for them to work on Study Island, eSpark and various other student driven initiatives. The homerooms have also been shortened to increase instructional time. Please see the document on the website titled Ambridge Area Junior High School orientation FAQs if you have any questions concerning the recent changes we have made.
We wrapped up the 2014-2015 school year on a very positive note with events such as NFL play 60, Junior Achievement Day, our first Career Day at AAJHS where volunteers from the Ambridge community spoke to our student about college and career readiness. We will continue to implement these events and make them better each year. We also will be infusing new reading, writing, and math strategies such as The Collins Writing Program and eSpark as the year progress. You will be receiving more information on these new and exciting strategies as we roll them out.
I am truly looking forward to an exhilarating year of learning and growing with our students and working with our professional staff and you, our parents and community members. Working together as a team with our staff, parents, and families I am committed to helping each student achieve their very best and realize their full potential. Every student is valued and worthy of our best effort. Please contact me should you have any questions or concerns. Have a great school year and thank you for support!
