Dear Highland Family,
We have had a great start to the school year here at Highland! Our Hero program is flying ahead. We are excited to be introducing our 100s chart this month for students that go above and beyond daily expectations. Random teachers will be chosen each day to keep their eyes open for random acts of kindness carried out by Highland students. When those teachers observe such actions, they will award the student with a spot on the 100s chart. When a row on the chart is full, the students in that row will receive the prize associated with that row. When the entire chart is full, the whole school wins.
This month will be another busy month at Highland. Some key events include:
- October 11: PTO Lollipop Sales
- October 16: Two-Hour delay
- October 17: Title 1 Family Night – Supporting your child in common core math
- October 25: Halloween Dance to benefit the Highland Helpers Pantry
In the coming weeks, you will be receiving information from your child’s teacher about parent-teacher conferences scheduled for November 1, 2019. These conferences are a wonderful opportunity for parents to have a one-on-one conversation with the teacher about their student’s performance in the classroom. If your child’s teacher requests a conference, please make every effort to attend: we are able to accommodate requests for phone conferences if necessary. In addition, if you do not receive a request from your child’s teacher, but would like to meet with the teacher, please feel free to request a meeting.
Finally, this year’s Halloween Parade will occur on Tuesday, October 25, because we do not have school on Halloween. The parade will begin promptly at 1:30 P.M. in the front parking lot (weather permitting). Families are welcome to attend and see all of our students in their costumes.
Thank you for your support of Highland.
