Dear Highland Family,
As we enter the final month of 2018, it seems a good time to reflect on all of the wonderful things that are happening at Highland this year. Our focus this year has been on differentiation and meeting students at their current ability level to ensure that all students are receiving instruction that appropriately challenges them while encouraging continued growth. Throughout the building, teachers are using learning centers to engage students in learning. Teacher commitment to these strategies has resulted in great growth already this school year, and we look forward to continued gains.
With the coming Holiday, there are a number of Holiday themed events planned for this month including:
Thursday, December 13 – Santa Land
Tuesday, December 18 – Holiday Band and Chorus Concert
Wednesday, December 19 – Kindergarten Holiday performance for parents
Friday, December 21 – Noon Dismissal
School safety is our priority here at Highland. Over the last few months, it has been brought to my attention on numerous occasions that many cars traveling on Highland Avenue are speeding. Please be advised that the Harmony Township Police Department will be sending extra patrols to ensure that drivers are following the 15 MPH speed limit along this road. In addition, I want to remind all parents that student drop-offs and pick-ups are to occur along the side of the building closest to Ridge Road, not in front of the building. Following this practice ensure that buses can safely load and unload in this area. We greatly appreciate your cooperation with this request.
Our last day of school before winter break is December 21st. Please note that students will be dismissed that day and noon. Winter break is scheduled from December 24th through January 1st. We hope that all of our families enjoy a peaceful and joyous Holiday Season and look forward to 2019!
