Students arriving for the first day of Kindergarten Readiness Camp in the District were greeted by smiling faces and new friends.

The camp is designed to prepare students for the transition into Kindergarten. Families with children registered for the Kindergarten program for the 2019-2020 School Year were provided with free transportation to the elementary school to which their child is assigned. Once there, students will receive both breakfast and lunch, have the opportunity to meet their new classmates and teachers and familiarize themselves with their news classrooms and school.

Not registered yet for the 2019-2020 School Year? Stop by State Street Elementary School between 9 a.m. and noon all this week to register. Questions can be directed to Cathy Hopkins at 724-266-2833, Ext.1273 or via email.

The Ambridge Area School District is offering a free Pre-K Counts class for children ages 3 and 4 for the 2019-2020 School Year. The program is open to students across Beaver County. Children living within the Ambridge Area School District are eligible for free transportation to the program.

Pre-K Counts is designed to prepare children for reading and math, improving attention , following directions and getting along with others in preparation for Kindergarten enrollment in their home school districts.

All Pre-K Counts classrooms:

  • Have teachers who possess the education and expertise to instruct young children;

  • Use a curriculum designed to help children grow academically and socially;

  • Regularly review children’s progress and choose teaching and learning activities that are tailored to each child’s individual needs;

  • Offer small class sizes so children receive plenty of 1:1 time with teachers.

Children between the ages of 3 and 4 who live in families earning up to 300 percent of the federal poverty level are eligible to enroll in this free program. Breakfast and lunch are served to all children enrolled in the program.

Ambridge Area School District offers two PreK classrooms at Highland Elementary School and one at both State Street and Economy elementary schools for a total of four Pre-K classrooms.

To register for the PreK Counts program, please call Cathy Hopkins at 724-266-2833, Ext. 1273 or via email This email address is being protected from spambots. On Thursday, May 23, students at State Street Elementary participated in their first ever Move-Up Day! During this time, rising first through fifth graders visited  their future classrooms to meet the teachers and learn more about what to expect next school year. Students enjoyed following the next grade’s lunch schedule and eating at their new tables!

State Street Elementary was treated to Ms. Marissa from Children's Hospital Injury Prevention Department. Ms. Marissa shared first hand with our students the importance of safety first no matter what they are doing. She reviewed the rules of "Bicycle Safety," the importance of wearing a helmet and how to do so correctly.  She taught the students the ways to signal when riding their bikes. Swimming rules and diving rules were addressed as well as other important safety issues for the summer.

Two students were the lucky winners of helmets. Students can participate in the Walk for Children's on June 1st at Schenley Park and receive a free helmet or visit Children's Hospital in Lawrenceville at any time to receive a free helmet.  The students learned a wealth of information to help them make this summer safer! Thank you Ms. Marissa!!

Celia Meunier, along with Mrs. Parisi, the P.E. teacher, and Mrs. Hoover, the State Street Principal, is presenting a check for $535.00 to Bradley Cavanagh, who is the Youth Market Director for the American Heart Association. Celia was the top fundraiser at State Street Elementary; she raised $125.00. Also, in the picture are six students that raised $50.00 or more and earned a T- Shirt:   EMMA ERSHER, MILO NEISH, ELLA STIMMEL, JACKSON BYARS, AUSTIN BYARS & LEO PASTNOVICH.

Congratulations and a big Thank You to all that participated!
