Reopening Plan Update

To the Ambridge Area School District Community:

I hope this communication finds you and your families safe and healthy and enjoying your summer break.

The Ambridge Area School District has been working on a Reopening Plan for the 2020-2021 school year.   A Reopening Committee, consisting of Administrators, Teachers, Board Members, School Nurses, Parents, Community Members, Maintenance and Custodians, Food Service Workers and Transportation Staff, has convened on multiple days, dedicating time and effort developing a Plan to address any concerns, while consistently offering the highest quality education for our students.  The formal Reopening Plan is going to be reviewed by the School Board of Directors at the Wednesday, July 15, 2020 School Board meeting at 7:00 PM, via ZOOM.  If the Plan is approved, the Continuity of Education Committee will convene to finalize the details for the instructional delivery for our students.

The Reopening Committee reviewed the survey data that was collected from our parents/guardians.  The results of this survey have been posted on the District website. Our goal is to develop a Plan that provides a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff, in accordance with the CDC guidelines, while offering parents/guardians the opportunity for their student(s) to learn remotely, if they choose.   As you may recall, the Board authorized the purchase of technology for all District students, and we are anxiously awaiting delivery.  In regards to the survey, Professional Development for our teaching staff was provided at the end of the school year.  The training was provided to vastly improve our remote learning process, which will include more opportunities for students to interact with their teachers.

It is our hope that this Reopening Plan will keep our students safe and our updated Continuity of Education Plan will provide an engaging and rigorous curriculum for our students this fall.

I would like to thank everyone who served on the Reopening Committee; all those who provided feedback through our surveys; all of the teachers, Administrators and staff who are working above and beyond to make this return to school safe, healthy and successful.
