Guidance Updates
The following will take place in the month of October here at the Ambridge Area Senior High School:
College and Career Fair – Friday October 16th. All students’ grades 9-12 will have a chance to participate in the virtual college and career fair. Links for students to virtually tour and speak with representatives will be available via our website and this will take place in each student’s social studies class.
Penn State Beaver Application Work Shop – Friday October 23rd. Students will have the opportunity to meet with Justin Vorbach, PSU admissions counselor. He will go through the PSU application process, answer any questions and wave the application fee. Sign up’s is for this are located outside of guidance in 10 minute intervals. Please have your student sign up for a time slot and they will meet with him virtually via zoom on the 23rd.
PSAT/NMSQT – Wednesday October 14h 8:00-12:00. Mrs. Santini spoke with students regarding the PSAT/NMSQT on Thursday September 24th, via English Classes. The AAHS will offer the PSAT to all 11th grade students. Permission slips will be mailed home to all junior families, to register please email Mrs. Misencik at vmisencik@ambridge.k12.pa.us – The cost of the exam is $17.00, all checks made payable to Ambridge Area School District and due to the guidance office by Friday October 9th, 2020. All testing will be completed in the field house.
Financial Aid Parent Night –– Representatives from Penn State Beaver’s financial aid office will be presenting a Virtual Financial Aid Workshop to seniors and their parents on Wednesday October 7th at 6 p.m. The workshop will explain the various types of financial aid that are available to students who qualify. It will also cover the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), including how to complete the FAFSA and the financial aid timeline. The workshop will be tailored for any college or university, not just Penn State.
This virtual program will be available online via Zoom at the link: https://psu.zoom.us/j/99504509571 The program will begin at 6 p.m. and last for about an hour, with additional time available to answer questions. Both parents and students are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is not required.

SAT – The SAT will be held at AAHS on Saturday October 3rd registration is available however a late fee will be assigned. Students can do so by visiting collegeboard.org -> SAT registration
Western Pennsylvania Psychological Services: WPPC Counseling Services are offered via the Positive Steps program for any student interested in counseling services at AAHS. Students may enroll with parent/guardian permission for individual therapy during the course of the school day in the guidance office. The Prevention Network: Lisa Polidora, our Prevention specialist can assist with signing up your student for the Student Assistance Program, Peer relationships, academic stress and monitoring and referring to counseling services for your student.
