School Board Open Seat Application Process

The Ambridge Area Board of School Directors is accepting letters of interest to fill three (3) two-year term open seats.

School Board members have 30 days to fill the vacancy per Department of Education regulations. District residents wishing to fill the seat are encouraged to submit a letter of interest (including the answers to the questions below) and a resume for review by December 13, 2021 to: Mrs. June Mueller, School Board Secretary, 901 Duss Avenue, Ambridge, PA 15003, or via email at jmueller@ambridge.k12.pa.us.

Please include answers to the following questions:

• What are the top three priorities you would like to accomplish on the Board?
• What is the main thing you would like to see changed a year from now?
• Explain your educational theory.

The Pennsylvania School Code outlines the following requirements for candidates wishing to fill school board vacancies:

• Must be a citizen;
• Must be at least 18 years old;
• Must be of good moral character; and
• Must be a resident of school district for at least one year prior to the date of election or appointment.

The School Board will review all applications for the positions.   Final candidates will be selected at the December 15, 2021 public Board meeting. The new Board members will serve a two-year term.
