The mission of the Ambridge Area School District is to be the “Bridge” to leading and learning, preparing students for the future through academic excellence.

Serving nearly 2,500 students in the municipalities of Ambridge Borough, Baden Borough, Economy Borough, Harmony Township, and South Heights, the Ambridge Area School District is the largest school district in Beaver County.  Covering approximately 27 square miles within the metropolitan Pittsburgh Area. The District’s ideal location allows its residents to easily access the region’s vast academic, business, cultural, entertainment, sport, and recreational resources.  The area is rich in tradition and offers a wealth of historic, cultural, and ethnic attractions.  Revitalization projects are ripe in the commercial and historic districts.  The area provides an array of entertainment, numerous churches and denominations, a myriad of restaurants, expansive shopping and nightlife, abundant parks and recreation, and a mass of cultural and historic vitality.  The region is surrounded by scenic settings with river valleys nestled along the Appalachian Mountain Range. Additionally, the District is within a short commute to the Pittsburgh International Airport, numerous major shopping areas, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike along with other interstates, such as State Route 65, Interstate 79 and Interstate 279.  Shopping areas close by include: Cranberry Township, Center Township and Robinson Township.

With approximately 200 dedicated, experienced, and highly qualified teachers and administrators, the Ambridge Area School District takes pride in meeting the needs of all students through a rich, seamless curriculum emphasizing high academic standards and expectations.  Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment Courses, GATE (enrichment), Technology (STEAM), Vocational, MCJROTC, and Learning, Emotional, and Autistic Support Classes are among district offerings.  Additional specialized learning opportunities are available through a partnership with the Beaver County Area Vocational Technical School. Also, students may participate in the Community College of Beaver County Aviation Academy of Sciences and Healthcare Academy. The District is renowned for its Fine Arts Program which encompasses a wide array of choral, drawing, instrumental, and steel drum courses.  Ambridge Area Alumni are represented among military academies, the armed forces, the nation’s finest colleges and universities, and a variety of professions.  The Administrators and the School Board of Directors recognize the need for students to adapt to the world’s changing demands and marketplaces.  Responding to this, measures are fully in place to keep our district in the competitive mainstream.  The District’s vast array of expanded course offerings align traditional knowledge with real world standards.  Across the District, state-of-the-art technology is merged into the curriculum in each of its modern facilities.

The Ambridge Area School District believes a program of extracurricular and athletic activities should complement the district’s academic program.  Scores of extracurricular clubs and organizations ranging from Interact Club to the Technology Student Association, each under the sponsorship of a faculty moderator, fulfill the interests and talents of all students within the district.  With interscholastic offerings in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, volleyball, bowling and wrestling, as well as a club offering in ice hockey, the District is a strong competitor in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic League (WPIAL).  The Ambridge Athletic Department’s philosophy is that the student athlete’s pursuits in a sport should be equally measured with those out of it.  To that end, an Ambridge Athlete should pursue personal growth through academic work and team experiences.  The department strives to maintain outstanding athletic programs, conducted in a manner that sets an example for good sportsmanship.  Ambridge enjoys being home to several state championship teams, and numerous individual all-state champions in their respective sports.  Having marched in the Rose Bowl parade and at Disney World on several occasions and in numerous cities in North America and Europe, our strong band has earned a great reputation for the quality of its performances.  Our very unique and entertaining steel drums band, having played across the country at various professional conferences, is in constant demand for local performances.

The District is served by three elementary schools (Highland, State Street and Economy), a Middle School and a Senior High School.  In the past 20 years we have built two new elementary schools (Highland and Economy) which each serve 500 students and renovated a third elementary school (State Street) which serves 300 students.   The completion of a $45 million Senior High School Construction Project brought an influx of new technologies across the campus for the District’s High School Students.   It further allows for future deployment of a variety of innovative educational initiatives. The Middle School has recently seen capital renovations of heating and air conditioning in the building, and the track was recently resurfaced.  Extensive capital improvements are planned for the Senior High School’s Moe Rubenstein Stadium which has been fitted with artificial turf.  The District is home to one of the largest athletic field houses in the area which regularly, along with the stadium, becomes the site of off-season interscholastic competition.
